Minzi is renowned for her ethereal DJ sets, she has played a pivotal role in shaping Toronto and Canada’s dance music landscape since 2018 while amplifying African-inspired sounds through the collectives she co-founded: Kuruza and Amaproblem (no longer operating). With a curatorial approach that transcends genre and borders, she crafts immersive sonic experiences that bridge cultures and expand the boundaries of contemporary music, blending electronic, jazz, and afro-ambient soundscapes.
Minzi is a rising multidisciplinary sonic curator, producer and DJ from Hiroshima, Japan, now based in Montreal. Her work exists at the intersection of music, space, and time that reflects her Japanese-Tanzanian heritage and global sensibility.
Minzi has opened for artists like Janet Jackson, Naomi Sharon, Amaarae, Major League DJz, and Ezra Collective — artists whose work aligns with the otherworldly, jazzy, and spacey sonic world she curates. She has collaborated with brands such as Nike, Maje, Adidas, HighSnobiety, Arc'teryx, and SSENSE, gaining global recognition for her intuitive and boundary pushing approach to creative expression within the high fashion realm.
